Baptismal Vow Revised

Fifty-Fifth General Conference Session, on July 11, 1990, 2:00 p.m., baptismal vow was revised, making it decidedly trinitarian. The vote was to revise the SDA Church Manual pg. 44 (1986 edition), “Baptismal Vow and Baptism,” section to read as follows (see attached pics).

1986 Church Manual’s baptismal vow #1 states, “1. Do you believe in God the Father, in His Son Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Spirit?”

1990 Revised baptismal vow #1 states, “1. Do you believe there is one God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, a unity of three co-eternal Persons?”
