What I love about the sculpting is how closely Adam resembles his Maker. The lesson I am going to share today actually deals with the resemblance between man and woman and God and His Son.
If there is one issue, more than any other, that stands between Seventh-day Adventists who believe in begotten theology and Seventh-day Adventists who believe in unbegottenism, it is the definition of “a Son begotten.”

Today in Seventh-day Adventism it is taught that the pre-incarnate Father/Son relationship between the 1st and 2nd Persons of the Godhead was just a metaphor. For example: “The term “Son” is used metaphorically when applied to the Godhead” (Angel Rodriguez, “A Question of Sonship” BRI article)

I received a message from one of the brothers asking me to clarify my view on whether Divinity died or not. He explained that he was having some difficulty reconciling EGW’s seemingly opposite statements on the matter. Therefore I am going to share my understanding on the matter now and I will attempt to parse between the SDA trinitarian view (at least as some of our leading men ascribe to it) and a common SDA non-trintarian view.
Did Christ’s really die? Was it only his human nature that died but divinity did not die? Who raised Christ from the dead? Did Christ raise Himself or did God the Father raise Him? Is the expression, “BEGOTTEN IN THE EXPRESS IMAGE OF THE FATHER’S PERSON” applicable ONLY to Christ’s incarnation?
If He had never been born of a virgin and become the Son of Man, would He still have been the SON BEGOTTEN IN THE EXPRESS IMAGE OF THE FATHER’S PERSON? Or is this expression only a reflection of His humanity as some (Trinitarians ) claim?
In Proverbs Chapter 8 Wisdom is personified…and this Wisdom was brought forth; when there were no fountains…” 1Corinthians 1:24 says, “But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, AND THE WISDOM OF GOD.” Note: 1Cor 1:24 refers to Christ as the wisdom of God. Trinitarians insist that “wisdom” in Proverbs 8 has no connection with 1Corinthians 1:24…
“The great Creator assembled the heavenly host, that He might in the presence of all the angels confer special honor upon His Son. The Son was seated on the throne with the Father, and the heavenly throng of holy angels was gathered around them. The Father then made known that IT WAS ORDAINED BY HIMSELF THAT CHRIST, HIS SON, SHOULD BE EQUAL WITH HIMSELF.”
