We all know that Sunday laws are on the statute books of America, and many Seventh-day Adventists are waiting for the Sunday law to be enforced in fulfillment of the mark of the beast in Revelation 13. But what the majority of Seventh-day Adventists don’t realize, is that attached to the Sunday law bills was another ‘religious’ law concerning the Trinity.
By the Rev. Samuel T. Spear D. D.
The following article, The Bible Doctrine of the Trinity (aka “The Subordination of Christ”), was written by a Presbyterian minister named the Rev. Samuel Thayer Spear D.D. (1812-1891). It was first published in ‘The New York Independent’ in 1889, then 3 years later in 1892, it was adopted by the Seventh-day Adventist church and was included in the church “Bible Students Library.”
”The Bible is not given to us in grand superhuman language. Jesus, in order to reach man where he is, took humanity. The Bible must be given in the language of men. Everything that is human is imperfect. DIFFERENT MEANINGS ARE EXPRESSED BY THE SAME WORD; THERE IS NOT ONE WORD FOR EACH DISTINCT IDEA. The Bible was given for practical purposes.” — Ellen White, Ms24-1886.6

What does the future of unity look like within the Seventh-day Adventist church? Sister White reveals what unity depends on, and the choice lies with us. Some have chosen the firm foundation built by the Master Worker, while the vast majority have chosen to tread “the trail of the serpent.” Mike examines the doctrine of Trinity’s critical role in the future of unity within christendom.
For there are three that bear record in heaven … – There are three that “witness,” or that “bear witness” – the same Greek word which, in 1 John 5:8, is rendered “bear witness” – μαρτυροῦντες marturountes. There is no passage of the New Testament which has given rise to so much discussion in regard to its genuineness as this…
Ellen White published “three living persons” twice in 1906. One was in a periodical (The Bible Training School) and the other in a pamphlet (Testimonies for the Church Containing Messages of Warning and Instruction to Seventh-day Adventists) and four times in subsequent publications. She never published “three living personalities”. People today are trying to act as if she did not control her own 1906 publications and are promoting a conspiracy theory that the “three living persons” quote is a corruption. Their theory has no credibility and the evidence is against them.
Approximately 2 weeks ago I received a request from one of the brothers asking for help on behalf of some of the non-trinitarian brethren. This request happened because a pastor gave them a formal letter notifying them that a church board meeting had been called to discuss church discipline against them for the following two reasons:
The Adventist history bears out that our pioneers were “non-Trinitarians”, but often, most SDA historians characterize our pioneers as either Arians or semi-Arians.
Were they Arians/semi-Arians? Or did they actually have the correct understanding of the True God of the Bible and His Son?
Genesis 1:26 “Then God [אֱלֹהִים ‘elohiym, el·ō·hēm’; Strongs H430] said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
Does this verse mean that there were more than one or rather three Gods (trinity) present in the creation of the world?
Does 1 John 5:7-8 teach trinity? Trinitarians often quote these verses as one of the proof texts, claiming that the verse, which says that the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost are one teache one Trinity God… Is this true? What the scripture actually reveals might surprise you.
Did Jesus risk all for us when He came as a man? This article examines whether or not Jesus risked being separated from His Father for eternity in saving you and I. “…HE COULD NOT HAVE DONE THIS AS GOD, BUT BY COMING AS MAN, CHRIST COULD DIE.” (Ellen G. White, Letter 97, 1898, p. 5. To “My Brethren in North Fitzroy,” November 18, 1898) Ellen G White says, Christ could not have died as God, but as a man, He could…meaning, somehow (this is a mystery) Christ was able to die as an incarnate Son…
Few understand how the Trinity doctrine came to be accepted – several centuries after the Bible was completed! Yet its roots go back much farther in history.
Genesis 1:2 “… And the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” Some argue that the Spirit of God, which moved upon the face of the water was a separate, distinct personal being referred to as the God the Holy Spirit. But the text itself gives no evidence for this.
